Modification and enforcement actions may become necessary after a divorce has been finalized. Modifications come about when there has been a substantial change in the circumstances of either spouse or a child that make the original agreement inequitable or unworkable. Enforcement issues often arise when one spouse consistently does not comply with the terms of the divorce agreement.

There are specific requirements that must be met in each case for the modification request to be successful; generally there must have been a substantial change in circumstances.
